Five First Communion Cermonies in Glanmire Parish

The month of May is the month of Mary but it is also the time when the children of the local schools receive their First Communion. This year there were five ceremonies. The children from New Inn school had their communion on 9th  May, followed by St Joseph’s, Riverstown who had two separate ceremonies on 16th May.

On 23rd May we had the children of Scoil Naomh Micheal, Upper Glanmire and the final ceremony took place on Saturday 31st May in Upper Glanmire for the children of Scoil Ui Drisceoil, the new Gaelscoil. A huge debt of gratitude is due to all who prepared the children: parents, teachers and priests.

First Communion is a major milestone in the life of the child but also for the family. Receiving Jesus for the very first time is an event none of us ever forgets. We pray that all these children will continue to grow in the faith, supported by the Christian witness and practice of the parents.
