Glanmire parish is a mixture of urban and rural. The population of Glanmire has grown substantially from the 1980s onwards.

There are 2 chuches in Glanmire, St. Joseph’s Church in Springhill, Glanmire and St. Michaels Church, in Upper Glanmire.

There are 4 primary schools in Glanmire parish St Joseph’s, St Michael’s , New Inn and Scoil na nOg.  Many children from Glanmire also attend the nearby Brooklodge and Scoil Ui Drisceoil.

There are 2 post-primary schools in Glanmire; Glanmire Community College and Colaiste an Phiarsaigh.

Glanmire is served by a parish priest, Fr John Newman and shares a curate with Glounthaune, Fr Ray Riordan.
