Bishop’s statement on priests’ appointments and the introduction of Families of Parishes

August 2, 2022

How priests minister in the parishes of the Diocese of Cork and Ross will change significantly in September. The diocese will have 16 families of parishes and each will be ministered to by a team of priests. Each priest will be resident in a particular parish but ministering across the whole family of parishes. Initially, this will begin with 12 families of parishes in the first phase which are outlined below with the names of those priests serving in the families of parishes.

Fr John Newman moves to take up a new role as Moderator for the Family of Parishes of Bandon, Enniskeane and Desertserges, Innishannon and Knockavilla, Kilbrittain, Kilmurry, and Murragh and Templemartin. Fr Newman has served as PP of Glanmire for 10 years and we bid him a sad farewell, thank him sincerely for his wonderful and inclusive ministry and wish him all the best in his new role.  We extend a warm welcome to Fr Pat Fogarty, who will be resident in Glanmire and co-PP for the Family of Parishes of Carrignavar, Glanmire, Glounthaune and Watergrasshill and Glenville.
