Glanmire Parish, County Cork, Ireland - part of the Catholic Diocese of Cork and Ross.

Corpus Christi Procession – Sunday 3rd June 2018, at 4pm

April 1, 2018

This year’s Eucharistic Procession will be held on Sunday, 3rd June 2018.

The Eucharistic Procession is a significant part of Cork’s religious heritage.  It is now in its 93rd year.

This year Most Reverend Denis Brennan, Bishop of Ferns will preach at the procession.

The Procession leaves the North Cathedral at 4.00pm and proceeds down Roman Street, Upper John Street, along Camden Quay, St. Patrick’s Bridge and St. Patrick’s Street en-route to Daunt’s Square.

Meanwhile, the religious ceremony begins in Daunt’s Square at 3.45pm approx. The Rosary will be recited by our Master of Ceremonies, Rev. Fr. Ben Hodnett, C.C., Frankfield/Grange. Hymns and sacred music will be performed by the Choir of the Church of the Incarnation, Frankfield, under the direction of Mr. Seán O’Neill. This year, Ms. Jessica O’Connell will be our Guest Soloist.

Once again, this year, a special area will be reserved for the sick and disabled near the Altar in Daunt’s Square. On arrival in Daunt’s Square, Bishop John Buckley will first bless the disabled, sick and infirm before ascending the Altar.

It is planned to broadcast the entire Daunt’s Square Ceremony live on the Cork Community Television Channel 803-Virgin Media and on the Internet on /tv from 3.45pm approx.

In a change to the usual assemble points, due to the annual Cork City Marathon, Parish members from Glanmire are asked to either assemble at the North Cathedral at 3:30pm or assemble in Daunt’s Square
