Good Friday’s Walk of the Cross

April 3, 2018

Each Good Friday the congregations of Glanmire join in an ecumenical walk of the cross. This walk journeys between St Joseph’s and St Mary & All Saints, starting at each church on alternate years.  The end church serves refreshments each year.

This year the walk started at St Joseph’s and made its way along to O Callaghan Park and up Church Hill to St Mary & All Saints. The walk started off on a dry evening but the weather soon turned inclement but this didn’t deter the large attendance along the walk.

Refreshments served at St Mary’s & All Saints were especially welcome after the challenging conditions.

It was a bittersweet walk as we welcomed Rev Paul Arbuthnot to Glanmire but remembered our old friend the late Rev Adrian Moran.  It was Rev Paul’s first ecumenical service in Glanmire and we hope it’s the first of many.

The walk this year followed this route. Next year it will reverse the route and start at St Marys & All Saints.
