Glanmire Parish, County Cork, Ireland - part of the Catholic Diocese of Cork and Ross.

Official opening of Glanmire Parish Centre

June 19, 2018

Glanmire Parish Centre was officially opened on 25-May-2018.

The parish centre has been many years in the thinking and planning and that wait has certainly been worth it. The new centre is a wonderful and flexible space and will add greatly to the parish community.

At the official opening many of the main participants spoke of their role in the project and it was obvious it was a very large but very worthwhile project.

Some years ago the Dooley family donated some land to the parish. This generous gift was the cornerstone on which the project became a financial reality. One of the meeting rooms has been named the John Dooley room in remembrance and very grateful appreciation.

The other meeting room has been named the Pat Kelliher room and this is again in grateful appreciation for the time and expertise donated by another parishioner, Pat Kelliher; the parish benefited from Pat’s many years in the construction industry.

The centre was officially opened by Canon Donal Linehan who spoke eloquently on the night on the importance of parish community. The newly opened centre was then blessed by Bishop John Buckley.

After the official business was completed all present mingled in the lovely foyer area and terrace and enjoyed a cuppa and a chat while admiring the view down over Pike field and the lovely valley.

The parish centre is a testament to many people and its benefits will be realised in Glanmire for many years to come.
