St Joseph’s church re-opening for private prayer

June 11, 2020

Churches in the Diocese of Cork and Ross will once again be opened for personal prayer from Monday May 18th onwards on a phased basis.

In line with this, we are delighted to be able to open St Joseph’s church from Monday 18th May for private prayer and personal reflection. This forms part of a phased plan towards being able to celebrate the sacraments with a congregation at a later date. In line with diocesian advice we are commencing with opening 1 church only.

From Monday, May 18th St Joseph’s will be open at the following times.

       Monday-Saturday  12noon     to 3:00pm

       Sunday                      10:00am  to 1:00pm

Bishop Fintan Gavin has reminded us this needs to proceed very carefully so that people can visit churches safely knowing that procedures are in place in line with government advice and HSE guidance.

To ensure we adhere to this we are asking everyone to follow the signs and directions in the church. It is important we all observe proper hand hygiene and as you enter and leaves the church you are required to use the hand sanitiser now in place.

It is also important that social distancing is observed.  A physical distance of 2m in every direction from the next person to be maintained. The only exception to this is with members of the same household where these can sit at the same seat.
