The Station Mass
November 2, 2010The Station Mass is a unique and special Mass that is celebrated in the home of a parishioner. It is a rich tradition that has its origins in penal times, when cermonies involving Catholic Clergy were banned. The Holy Mass at that time was celebrated in a clandestine fashion typically either outdoors at Mass Rocks or in someone’s house.
In Glanmire Parish we have an ongoing tradition of The Station Mass. Some of our parishioners might not be familiar with the tradition, but you all are welcome to contact us to arrange a Station Mass in your house. It is a unique opportunity to have the presence of the Lord in your house, to meet your local priest and to socialise with neighbours.
