The Transfiguration by John Hogan 1857 on display in St Joseph's Church Glanmire Co. Cork, IrelandThe Transfiguration is a sculpture by John Hogan who was born in Tallow, County Waterford, in 1800. It depicts the event recorded in each of the synoptic gospels whereby Jesus was transformed in the presence of the apostles Peter, James and John. His clothes became dazzingly white and a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased”. This sculpture is dated 1857.
