Glanmire Parish, County Cork, Ireland - part of the Catholic Diocese of Cork and Ross.

Would you like to host a station mass?

August 30, 2018

The tradition of mass in the house dates back to Penal times, when it was forbidden for Catholic priests to say Mass in public. To get around the problem, the Mass was often celebrated secretly in people’s homes.

In Glanmire parish the tradition of  having the Station  has continued with parishioners hosting mass in their homes. It is an time to meet and socialise with priests of the parish and with neighbours.  In a growing and changing parish like Glanmire the Station Mass can be a real and meaningful opportunity to extend a welcome to new neighbours

Stations are traditionally held in Spring (during Lent) and Autumn.

If you would like to host a station mass in your home for your area please contact the parish office.
