Luke 24:36
"Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, ‘Peace be with you!’ "
Today at 10:30 am Mass we prayed with Fr. Martin again for peace in Northern Ireland. We also prayed for peace in our families.
Fr. Martin also reflected on how the early Christian church shared what they had amongst each other an prayed we continue this Christian way.
In the gospel Jesus asked the disciples for something to eat and they gave him a grilled fish which he ate. We also look forward to returning soon to receiving Communion again in our churches.
On the Sports Report Fr. Martin shared his delight at Leona Maguire from Cavan coming joint second in golf in Hawaii in the early hours of this morning! ... See MoreSee Less

Luke 24:35
"The disciples told their story of what had happened on the road and how they had recognised Jesus at the breaking of bread."
As we see the disciples sent out to preach the good news to the world Fr. John at 6pm Vigil Masss had an ecumenical and inclusivity theme:
This month two greats of our church died; Cardinal Edward Cassidy (of Irish descent from Sidney) and the Swiss theologian and priest Hans Kung.
Edward Cassidy from 1989 to 2001 was head of ecumenism - he worked by small sure steps, based on trust, and widening of the middle ground, culminating in 1999 in the publication of the ‘Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification’ – helping to bring Christians together.
Hans Kung had a more direct approach to ecumenism, openly questioning traditional dogmatic Christianity. He believed in a central role for all Christians in the church. He published ‘Christianity and the world religions: paths of dialogue with Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism’ in 1986.
As a Post Communion Reflection Fr. John read a poem of R. S. Thomas:
The Country Clergy
I see them working in old rectories
By the sun's light, by candlelight,
Venerable men, their black cloth
A little dusty, a little green
With holy mildew. And yet their skulls,
Ripening over so many prayers,
Toppled into the same grave
With oafs and yokels. They left no books,
Memorial to their lonely thought
In grey parishes; rather they wrote
On men's hearts and in the minds
Of young children sublime words
Too soon forgotten. God in his time
Or out of time will correct this.
